Cicada Killers

Cicada Killer

  • Classification of service:  covered under General Pest Control
  • These insects live in the ground and primarily feast on cicadas (locust).
  • Cicada Killers can reach up to 1 ½ inches long and they are a rustic color.
  • They like to bed down around sandy areas and dig at least 6 inches into the ground.
  • They usually do not sting unless they are cornered or stepped on.  They can be aggressive when they are in a defensive mode.  Their sting can be very painful.  They tend to stay away from humans.
  • The best way to keep them under control is to make sure flower beds do not have ground showing (mulch, ground cover, etc).
  • They are most active during summer months.
